We’ve made your units very easy to study by grouping them under 8 subjects, so you have less doubling up and your study is more efficient and meaningful.

The Certificate IV course is delivered across multiple subjects consisting of a total of 13 accredited units clustered into 8 subjects. Students must complete all subjects satisfactorily in order to be deemed competent in these units.

The units are:

Evolve College has created a flexible timetable arrangement that allows you to study whilst maintaining other life commitments. Many of our students study while working full time, have kids and/or run busy and active lives. We believe study should be something that helps you grow but does not require you to give up all other commitments to do so.

Course Delivery

Classes occur in 2 day blocks on average every 3-4 weeks, There is 7 classes in total including the supervised practice clinics. Classes can be attended at your chosen campus, you are able to change campus at any time or make up a class at another campus (dates permitted). You can choose from the following class options:

• Weekend Format (Saturday & Sunday)
• Weekday Format (Monday & Tuesday)
• Weekday Format (1 day per week)

On Campus

You will attend class at your chosen location for your practical subjects which will consist of a total of 14 days (including the Introductory Massage Course). You can choose from the following options:

• Weekend Format (Saturday & Sunday)
• Weekday Format (Monday & Tuesday)

All your theory learning materials will be available online via our state of the art online EvolveHub environment. You will also be given access to any required textbook in the form of an eBook. These are all included in your course fee. 

Your study of the theoretical aspects of this course is undertaken in the EvolveHub. You will be provided with login access to this online learning environment, where your learning materials and assessments will be released in the most supportive order and manner for your course. 

On completion of the HLT42021 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy qualification you will be qualified to perform relaxation massage. Your job title will be Massage Therapist and you may seek work in a variety of contexts, which could include (for example) a Day Spa, cruise ship, health resort, palliative care, aged care, or an assistant to allied health workers (such as a physiotherapist or osteotherapist). 

Possible further training includes: HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, it is required that students:

• Are 18 years or older
• Have sound literacy and numeracy skills (HSC, Certificate IV or higher). If you have not completed prior study, then completion of a quick language literacy and number quiz administered on enrolment with Evolve College.
• Have basic computer skills
• Have access to a computer for completion of the online study component of the course

Credit (or recognition) for subjects/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. Read more about our Recognition of Prior Learning program and National Recognition (Credit Transfer). 

On-campus students study all practical learning on-campus. Correspondence students study practical learning at home at their own pace. For both modes of study, all practical assessments must be completed on-campus and theory assessments are completed online, with an on-campus component. 

You are required to keep pace with your course. Assessments should be submitted at least every 2 weeks.  See the Student Handbook for more details on the requirements for progress in your course. 

To complete the units in this qualification you will need a computer, broadband connection to the Internet and an active email account. 

Computer requirements 

To use all the features of the learning resources you will also need the following: 

• Adobe Flash Player - current version, to play activities
• Adobe Reader to open and read .pdf documents
• The ability to upload and download data and files including video files
• The ability to print and upload completed documents (e.g. consent forms)

Accessories

You will require the following: 

• Massage Table: A Massage Table for practice at home. (For your classes, massage tables are supplied at on-campus locations unless specified.)
• Towels: Towels of a good quality (sizes are specified on enrolment), which you will bring to class and for massage practice at home. 
• Massage Oil: Oil is provided in the Introductory class (for on-campus students) and then it is your responsibility to provide your own oil for subsequent class use and for home practice. Oil  must be in a pump top bottle (to prevent spillage). You will be issued with one such bottle in your Introductory class. 

The HLT42021 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy is the latest Certificate IV qualification in the Australian massage industry. It was released in 2015 after extensive streamlining of the qualification by the massage industry. The qualification was developed by industry to meet current industry standards and has been endorsed by the government. 

The HLT42021 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy is nationally recognised training. 

Your training and assesment are compliant with the Health Training Package requirements for HLT42021 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy:

• Nationally recognised qualification within the Australian Qualifications Framework
• Current qualification under the Health Training Package
• Centrelink registered (subject to your application to and approval by Centrelink for assistance)

The current Certificate IV qualification in massage is the HLT42021  Certificate IV in Massage Therapy. This qualification is a nationally recognised qualification within the Australian Qualifications Framework and therefore has a unique code identifier - HLT42021.

Students complete online practice hours throughout their course, which is a further step in our careful and comprehensive clinical training. In this unique and unprecedented technological platform, students are able to build confidence and true readiness for entering the industry, as they work in their own professional environment whilst still having the live supervision of an Evolve College Assessor. It is one of the important steps in your study, which helps build confidence in skills and confirm for you your readiness to join the industry as a value-adding, highly professional member.

From 1 January 2015, all students participating in Nationally Recognised Training in Australia are required by the Australian government to have a Unique Student Identifier, or USI.

This includes students completing an apprenticeship, skill set, certificate or diploma course.

A USI gives you access to your online USI account and will contain all of your nationally recognised training records and results from 1 January 2015 onwards, stored in the one place. You therefore can access your results and the details of all courses you have completed. 

When applying for a job or enrolling in further study, you will often need to provide your training records and results. One of the main benefits of the USI is that you will have easy access to your training records and results throughout your life.

It is free and easy for you to create your own USI online at usi.gov.au.

If you do not have a USI you can obtain this prior to commencing your studies. It is important to understand that this is a requirement set by the Government and we are unable to issue your qualification to you on completion of your studies unless you have a USI.
